Luz Media’s AI Policy

At Luz Media, we use artificial intelligence (AI) in limited ways to support our editorial work, but every story we publish is ultimately the responsibility of our human editorial team and a product of human labor.

As a small digital media organization, we use AI to streamline our reporting process, particularly during the research phase, to help us identify relevant sources and information more quickly while ensuring all sources are fact-checked by humans. However, our writers and editors independently verify the information they use and are responsible for ensuring that all sources are credible, accurate, and appropriate before publication.

In some cases, we use AI to brainstorm story ideas or editorial angles, but AI doesn’t determine our editorial priorities or news judgment. Occasionally, we may also use AI to generate illustrations or graphic elements for editorial feature images or social media. Whenever AI has been used in the creation of a visual asset, we clearly disclose that fact in the caption. We never present AI-generated imagery as photography or documentary visual journalism.

We don’t use AI to write articles, report the news, conduct interviews, or generate journalism on our behalf. All reporting, writing, editing, fact-checking, and editorial decisions are carried out by humans.

As AI technology evolves, so will our approach to using it responsibly, and we’ll be transparent about any changes to our policy.
